we, having been living in one corner of the world for several decades, must ask ourselves what is the level of our national strength and our civilization. this is the final awakening of which i speak. to put it another way, if we open our eyes and take a hard look at the situation within our country and abroad, what place does our country and our people occupy, and what actions should we take?... our task today can be said to be the intense combat between the old and the modern currents of thought. those with shallow views all expect this to be our final awakening, without understanding how difficult it is to put [constitutional government] into practice... there is no difference between the shameful disgrace of submissiveneof men of ancient times hoping that sage rulers and wise ministers will practice benevolent government and present day men hoping that dignitaries and influential elders will build a constitutional republic. why should i reject the desires of dignitaries and influential elders, who are after all a part of the people, to build a constitutional republic? only because a constitutional republic cannot be conferred by the government, cannot be maintained by one party or one group, and certainly cannot be carried on the backs of a few dignitaries and influential elders. a constitutional republic which does not derive from the conscious realization and voluntary action of the majority of the people is a bogus republic and bogus constitutionalism. it is political window-dressing, in no way like the republican constitutionalism of the countries of europe and america, because there has been no change in the thought or the character of the majority of the people, and the majority of the people have no personal feeling of direct material interest.

下午好。首先我觉得非常的荣幸能够在这里和你们面对面。其实坐在这里我还有点小紧张。但是也还好，趁这个机会我给大家也包括我自己鼓鼓劲。回顾下，长长的三年被我们短短的过过了。准确的说已经短到只剩下三十三天。我真的非常的高兴能够陪你们走到最后。因为你们是我的第一届学生，算是我的第一拨桃李。无论结局如何，我都牢记你们!

但是，看到你们最近的状态，我真的着急了。在经历了三次模考之后，听到有些同学在交谈中感叹：“只剩30几天了，能不能上线，结局已经注定。”也有同学抱怨：“我已经很努力了，付出了很多，成绩却居后不前。”甚至想“这样一天一天的的煎熬，还不如明天就高考。”。看到你们这样没有精神，我的信心也大打折扣!

但是不是真的什么都不能改变，自己真的只能等待命运的安排甚至接受命运的宣判吗?作为与同学们一起经历高中三年风风雨雨的老师，我想要告诉你们的是：在你们经过十几年寒窗苦读，读过堆积如山的书籍，做过漫天飞舞的试卷，在喊出我的未来不是梦的口号后，你们就这么认输。那真的是太遗憾了。高考虽然不是人生的全部，却是人生极为重要的一步。而这一切要成为可能，都需要我们从今天的最后冲刺做起，充分利用这屈指可数、一日千金的关键时刻。

三十三天虽然弹指一挥间，但我们必需意识到：人是不可能被注定的，往往最后的一点坚持，会让你看到别人看不到的"风景;越是接近目的的时候，越能考验一个人的意志。我们英语当中有句谚语one who laughes last is the best!坚持，咬着牙坚持到最后，只要有了坚持的愿望， 非凡的梦想就绝对不是虚幻。

况且，在你们走过的每一天里，你们并不孤独，你们有家长的精心呵护，有同学的关心帮助，还有老师的耐心指导。作为你们的老师，我们将是你们最坚强的后盾。我们老师也做了充分的打好这一场硬仗的准备，我们会全力以赴，精心备考。在以后的三十三天里，我们也许会对你们要求更高，训练更强，督促更严，但是，请你们相信，这一切都是为了你们，为了你们能出类拔萃，为了你们能有更加辉煌的明天，因此，希望你们能够理解。

1）开始时对听众的称呼语最常用的是Ladies and gentlemen，也可根据不同情况，选用Fellow students，Distinguished guests，Mr Chairman，Honorable Judges（评委）等等。
